Randaa Yaacoub
Student Representative 2007-2009
Born and raised in Cairo, Egypt, Randa Yaacoub moved to Daytona Beach, FL in August 2006 to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU). She is a standing senior at the school of Human Factors & Psychology (HFP), where she is majoring in a BS HFP with a minor in Applied Meteorology.
Since freshman year, she has been involved on campus in multiple organizations such as the Orientation Team (OT), the Student Government Association (SGA), Task Force One (TFO), Theta Phi Alpha (TPA), and the Human Factors and Systems Department (HF&S). During her freshman year she became a member of the OT, TFO, and TPA, also she was a student assistant in the HF&S.
She continued her involvement with the OT, TPA, and HF&S during her sophomore and Junior years, while serving as a student representative for the College of Arts and sciences (COAS) on the Student Representative Board (SRB) of the SGA.
As an elected student representative for four consecutive terms, she worked on many projects such as brining the Bank of America and Wachovia ATMs to the student center and the SGA suggestion boxes on campus. During her second year of service on the SRB, she chaired the Progress Committee (PC), a highly influential committee composed of 13 members who worked tirelessly on various campus improvement projects.
Randa is currently a senior and serves as the appointed SGA Director of Internal Affairs (DIA). She works with the various divisions and branches of the SGA, and oversees all SGA internal affairs aspects, such as putting projects together, advisory roles and coordination of communications between the multiple divisions of the SGA.
Some of her current semester projects include the creation and implementation of SGA presentations as an integral part of all introductory University 101 classes, and reviving the Students First Program. Also, she will be working with the SGA PC on a few projects and on improving Dining Services.
Since her first days in the SGA, her motto has been “inspired by the student’s suggestions”. Welcoming all suggestions, she is constantly driven by the students’ concerns, striving to improve campus services and students quality of life. She is glad and honored to have been, and continue to be, an active member, decision maker and implementer of the ERAU SGA.
